Every time I come to basic I have an amazing experience! Every employee is stylish and incredibly friendly and helpful. The pieces are so original, ethical, and celebrate every body type. Basic. is a refreshing and incredible stop for anyone in the Birmingham area!

I’ve been struggling the past few weeks as I’ve out grown every article of clothing I have. With this prompt, my husband Alan set down Morris with Harrison in tow on a mission to find something for me. Lacey was incredibly attentive and listened to both needs and preferences in order to find the perfect pieces for me and she absolutely came through. One is a french blue linen dress and the other a cream and striped dress- both will grow with me, but then I can wear post-pregnancy. I’m so very thankful for both Alan’s thoughtfulness and Lacey’s expertise! I highly recommend Basic and can’t wait to slowly add more well-made pieces to my wardrobe.

basic is the best! I ordered a blouse from them while the shop was closed, and it’s beautiful! I accidentally selected shop pick up, and they were kind enough to deliver locally. The best customer service around and the kindest owner and staff. In addition to being my go-to for local shopping, they’re also eco-friendly, which is a win all around. The clothes they sell are stylish, well-made, and sustainable. Can’t say enough good things about this lovely local business! And, can’t wait to shop in the new location!

Super cute coffee shop/ retail store with beautiful, sustainable offerings. Staff was helpful and friendly. Found a nice undyed cotton cardigan to wear over my dress for dinner.

Super awesome shop! Love the plus size options and sustainable clothing. Great place to find locally made art and clothing. Everyone who works there is very friendly. The coffee and chocolate is delicious too.

a perfect place! basic. offers beautiful, thoughtful pieces. Their selection ranges from relaxed to elegant clothing. They offer styling and rental options! I highly recommend checking out basic!! Bonus: they are in the same space as Honeycreeper chocolate

BEST shop I’ve ever been to!! 🤩 Not only is everything so cool but everything is so intentional - they sell clothing from all over the world made by independent designers, and they have multiple local designers too. The accessories and gifts are so unique as well. I know that everything they have is ethically sourced, so it also feels good to shop and support so many small businesses represented there. Also - they share the space with the best coffee shop in town, Grounds. I can grab a cappuccino and drink it while I shop! ☕️🛍️ 10/10
